I initially produced a set of ideas and roughs based on the theme of water sirens. Through my research I liked the idea of the sirens looking into mirrors as

mirrors are often carried in handbags. The illustration is small in size and needed to reflect the colours of the leather used to assemble the handbags.

I used a variety of techniques to achieve the final result. The illustration had to work as a repeat pattern.

I used a diamond shape in the form of decorative waves, the water sirens flow within the space to connect the pattern.
